How to Draw: Pepe the King Prawn

Hello, people of the galaxy, lend me your brains. Today I, Max, will show you the reader at home how to draw a Pepe the King Prawn, the wise-cracking Hispanic Muppet I talked about in "Why I Like the Muppets". The reason I'm teaching people how to draw, well, I want to show some of my viewers more of my talents. Besides writing. By the way I'm wondering what I should go as for Halloween, even though it is two months away. I'm thinking either Michael Jackson in Thriller, Beaker, or Fred (YouTube star). Think about it, give me your opinion and comment on it, or you could talk about what you wanna be for Halloween. In other words, comment about anything.

Now to show you how to draw Pepe the Prawn:

Before we start your going to need these supplies, pencil (any kind), crayons and/or colored pencils in orange, tan, white (if you don't have white, leave all whites blank), red, and any two colors of your choice.

1. First, I like to start with round eyes for Pepe, don't add any other features just yet. 2. Next, add pupils, and a peanut-like shape encircling the eyes for the top of the head, then make something along the lines of a bread loaf's height. Don't forget to add his one tooth on the left side.

3. After forming the head, I like to add his hair and antennae next. 4. Once you're done, add the neck and the shoulders.

5. You now need Pepe's jacket down to show the arms. This will be quicker than some steps. 6. Quicker than No. 5, draw Pepe's four hands on Pepe, but remember he has only has three fingers.

7. Now grab a red or dark orange crayon or colored pencil and color over his hair and antennae. 8. For No. 8, get out some light orange or peach color for his face. But don't color his tooth or any of his ordinary two eyes.

9. Last, but surely not least, get two colors of your choice (I prefer light blue and light green. His usual outfit color) and color his jacket and shirt.

So now after 9 steps we have made Pepe the King Prawn.

Why I Like The Muppets

Max here. Now people always ask me, "Why do you like the Muppets?" Well, I'm here to answer that question. But before I begin, I'd like to thank all of my readers and fellow bloggers, Aunt Angela and Uncle Jeremy from OUR JOURNEY, and my mom's best friend from Alabama and one of the biggest Muppet fans and Journey to Tennessee's first follower, Andy. Thank you for reading and commenting, and I hope you like this one as well.

So, why do I like the Muppets. Well, to start the Muppets give a good sense of laughter and positive energy. Take Fozzie Bear for example, he tries to be funny but he succeeds... by not being funny. Although, he keeps trying to do it anyway.

No. 2, The Muppets always have a guest star, it's a big variety of them. From Ethel Merman, to the Mummenschanz, Don Knotts to Steve Martin, Elton John to Julie Andrews. Even Alice Cooper, hard rocker, guest starred. And not many kids know who Raquel Welch is. It just goes to show ya', The Muppet Show has history.

#3, I love the characters they are hilarious, I can even do impressions of some of them. Actually most of them I can do, sometimes even the Sesame Street characters. I love them.

There's Pepe, the prawn with a Spanish accent. Rizzo, the rat with a New York type look. Gonzo, the stunt artiste that never gives up. Fozzie, the comedian with the hecklers that never stop heckling. Miss Piggy, the pig... I mean girl, with a strong arm. "Hi....ya!" she says. And Kermit, the host with problems and a green outside. But my favorite is the Muppet Labs guinea pig, Beaker. You remember him he was nominated for a Webby award. He won.

Another thing I like about them is their sketches. The variety of performances is very open. There's Pigs in Space, parody of Star Trek, starring Captain Link Hogthrob, Miss Piggy, and Dr. Julius Strangepork. There's The Swedish Chef and his variety of food. There's Muppet Labs, "Where the future is being made today", with Dr. Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker. And there's Veterinarian's Hospital, "the continuing stooory of a quack who's gone to the dogs", starring Rowlf as Dr. Bob, Miss Piggy, and Janice.

But the one thing I like the most is the youth within it. I once heard a recording of a man say, "The most sophisticated people I know, inside their all children. We never lose a certain sense we had when we were kids.", the late, Jim Henson says.

So I hope you get to know the Muppets as much as I do. So I say to you, Meep, Wocka Wocka, Hi ho, and WOMAN! And goodbye.

School's Out... and Back in Again

Hi, this summer is awesome... warts and all... but, since I'm getting homeschooled. I'm getting a lot of stuff to go on my curriculum. You see it's awesome how you can go to school at home. We actually thought of it because we're so busy now with my auditions, and Ms. Carrie's acting classes, and all the kids that want to play with me at dad's office. But it's weird, we used to laugh at homeschooled kids.

So, nowadays we're getting back to Ms. Renee Kemper's voice classes to work on getting into Narnia. Last time we met at the "non-constructed" part of Playhouse on the Square, she said I was really good with my vocals on my songs and warm-ups.

Yeah, summer begining to ending by now, sorta. But I'm trying to last the fun till August. Only, this summer's gone by, especially with the death of Michael Jackson, the new specials on TV (ex., He Could Be the One, Wizards on Deck with Hannah Montana), and all the fun I'm having. Especially the Lincoln Log mansion I made today.

I'm also looking forward to seeing G-Force, and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, which I woulda' seen already but I've been waiting to go at the right time with Braxton. The movies... I haven't really had time for this summer, but I'm hoping to get back to that when dad gets a bit more patients this year.

Fire Up Independence Day

Maxwell in the house. What's up home-dawgs. If I'm not clear... tell me. Tell me, dudes. Anyway, today's the 4th of July. Things are awesome especially since yesterday I saw awesome fireworks. One even looked like Mickey Mouse which was really cool. Even though it wasn't Disney World fireworks. The fireworks only lasted for about 15 or 20 minutes or less, but it was still worth it.

Oh, and today I saw my Lakeland Elementary art teacher, Ms. Orange. It is a bit weird that her name's a color and she's an art teacher. I showed her a bit of my summer artwork, like the owl mask I made at Scout Camp, the picture I drew of me and David playing wizards from my school, and my new comic books I'm working on like, Muppet Pirates of the Caribbean, and Mr. Pig.

This is an awesome holiday but not as much as Christmas or Halloween. This Independence Day is so cool. Sam the Eagle, Muppet, would of loved it. But did you know it was the day that we of the United States adopted the Declaration of Independence? This day is known as the national day of the United States.

Now during the American Revolution there was a legal seperation between the American colonies and Great Britain (England) occuring on July 2, 1776 when the Second Continetal Congress voted to approve a resolution of independence that had been proposed by Richard Henry Lee of Virginia in June. After voting for independence, the Congress turned it's attention to Declaration of Independence, a statement explaining the desicion with Thomas Jefferson as the lead author. Soon after revising and debating the statement. They finally approved it on July 4, 1776. Thus by 1791, Independence Day was born.

Wow, a little history lesson never hurt anyone. Hope I celebrate the 4th as much as you may be. Have a great 4th of July. Comment and see ya. Oh, 180 more days till 2010.

Schedule in Fun

Things have gotten a little bit more difficult this summer. I took a trip to St. Louis for two days this week. I've got three auditions I'm looking forward to doing, two are from the same theater company. And Dad keeps getting more and more and more and more patients... shall I continue. Maybe not, but I can fit it all into my schedule. Now, I would of blogged about the trip to Missouri, but I've had alot on my plate. But I'll always make time for fun.

While I was in Missouri, I saw, Annie, at The Muny with Mom, Kohl Haun, Kohl Haun's Mom, and Kohl's Grandma, who happens to live with them. Also their family had been dog-sitting at the time so I met a new friend of the family, Sammie, which was a boy dog, and we got along good... Well, once he sniffed me to make sure I was safe. Oh, and we also played wizards with Kohl and his little brother, Chase, a.k.a. Chuck. Or even sometimes a.k.a Adam??

I couldn't see David. He's really busy too with 4th of July coming up and all that jazz. I also had two appointments with my acting teacher, Ms. Carrie, the two days I was there. We had a great time too, studying my monologues, talking together, and hanging out with her, sort of a 'Korat' breed, cat, Luna, which means moon in Spanish.

Everything's working out, sort of. Me and Braxton are planning to go see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. The latest PG-rated Harry Potter film since the Prisoner of Azkaban. Braxton's seen all the Harry Potter movies, even the PG-13 ones, and he has read all the books, too. Since he's read um', his mom says if he reads all the books, he'd get to see all the movies. I've seen all the movies too. But I wanna see this one to make it complete.

Anyway, the two... no, three, shows I may audition for are awesome. I'm going to go for a production of Narnia at Playhouse on the Square. Oliver Twist in the same theater. And a community theater production of Fiddler on the Roof, which is at a theater where some people from Disney come. So that's other stuff I'm goin' for.

I've got a lot on my plate. I mean this is a very big post. Hope everything separates. But fun can always come in once and a while. Have a great summer.
